Homes that were classified as contemporary in the 50s would most likely be known as Retro Contemporary today. This form of architecture did not catch on heavily in the Houston area, and so we only see a handful of these homes around the metro area. It wasn’t until the 1980s that the idea of contemporary houses caught on. 1980s era homes being labeled as contemporary are the only contemporary properties you will likely see in the under $250,000 price point in the Houston market place.
