Woodland Heights Subdivision
Woodland Heights Subdivision of Houston, TX
Bordered on two sides by major interstates, the subdivision of Woodland Heights is one of the oldest and most historic areas in the city. In 1907, William Wilson platted the community that was accessible from downtown Houston via streetcar. It was eventually incorporated into the City of Houston and is considered the closest residential area to downtown Houston. During its building phase, architecture was changing on the face of America and the era of the large Victorian homes were becoming a thing of the past with smaller bungalows that still sported large front porches were quickly becoming the norm. Woodland Heights is prime evidence of this.

Today, Woodland Heights has some of the most desirable housing in the Houston area.
The streets of the Woodland Heights subdivision are lined with majestic trees and beautiful gardens. Some of the residents of Woodland Heights have such lush flower and vegetable gardens that they border on having the status of small operative farms. There is even a beekeeper in Woodland Heights, a popular attraction with residents and visitors.
In December, the subdivision hosts an annual “Lights in the Heights” walk where residents and visitors carry luminaries throughout the city streets for a holiday parade. It has been called one of the most beautiful and spectacular sights to see in the Greater Houston area. This has helped home owners to preserve the beauty in architecture that has made their homes so unique in the Houston area.
